Are you interested in having a ceramic mural designed and constructed by your pupils or a wall plaque decorated with their drawings?  Westcott School in Wokingham recently had both done.  The following pictures record the process.

These lovely drawings were done on a small piece of paper 4 x 4 cm and sent to ClaynGlaze.  We transferred all of the drawings onto ceramic tiles and fired them.  The wall plaque made up of ceramic tiles had approximately 4 drawings on each tile.

The tiles were adhered to a piece of wood.  The edge of the wall plaque had a Cobalt Blue edging tile and in the centre we placed a smaller plaque which we had inscribed for Wescott School to celebrate their centenary.

The wall plaque was unveiled by HRH the Princess Royal in June 2006.

Following this very successful project Wescott School commissioned a wall mosaic which was completed over three days.  The tiles donated by a local tiling company were smashed into small pieces.  Using two of the original face designs which the children had done, a new design based on them was created for the mosaic.

Tiles were selected and stuck down and then grouted over the top.

The grout was cleaned off the surface of the mural and the tiles were polished and the edge of the mural sanded and treated before placing on an exterior wall.

At ClaynGlaze we appreciate that school budgets are tight so please contact us for realistic prices. We intrinsically involve the children as much as possible and can arrange for posters of the events in progress to be created showing the work which has been undertaken.

For reference please contact Wescott School and ask for the Bursar.
